FLY FASHION QUESTION OF THE DAY

Shorts + Uggs=Oxymoron!!

Six years ago these furry shoes made its way into the fashion world, and managed to rise against all odds as the “IT” boot. Even becoming a staple in my closet, I admit I too have fallen into the trend. However, It serves it purpose in my wardrobe, as my “snow” boot, my “comfortable” boot, and last but not least my “warmest” winter boot. As the weather begins to break  I have been spotting a lot of  fashion fo-pod’s that have fallen short of the glory. Lets ask ourselves today FLY people what is wrong with this picture? I can spot about three. “Uggs with shorts” it doesn’t even sound right saying it much less seeing it *eye sore* To my knowledge Uggs came from Australia, which predominately has some of the  COLDEST winters, so why are people wearing them on some of the HOTEST days . Now my question to you FLY ones, if something keeps you warm in below zero degree weather, what in the world are you doing wearing it in sweltering heat?…Ummm yeah Fly people let’s get into it what’s your view? I vote NO!!

although i’m not a proponent of wearing Uggs with shorts or skirts in hot weather (because it looks rather ridiculous) — Uggs are made with sheepskin…which is made to keep your feet at your natural body temperature — regardless of the temperature outside. This means that in hot weather it does not make your feet hotter…

FROM THE UGG WEBSITE: “Grade-A sheepskin breathes naturally, wicking away moisture, and allowing air to circulate freely.

Fleece breathes, wicks moisture away, and allows air to circulate, keeping feet dry.

Sheepskin is naturally thermostatic thus keeping bare feet close to your natural body temperature regardless of the temperature outside. ” (source: http://www.uggaustralia.com/customerService/sheepskin.aspx?p=ex)

Your feet will NOT sweat and if your feet DO get hotter it will allow your feet to breathe and become cooler. As far as Australia having some of the coldest winters…Australia is also known for it’s sweltering summers with 100+ degree weather…that said…Uggs remain popular during these months amongst SURFERS and swimmers who would like to keep their feet dry and warm after coming out of the water. Uggs have NOT just been popular in the past 6 years…Uggs have been popular in the states since the 90’s — my mom worked at W magazine in the 90’s and had a pair since AT LEAST ’95 or ’96.

    That is all.
