The Lincoln Motor Company was the exclusive automotive sponsor for ESSENCE’s 9th Annual Black Women in Music event in New York City at the Highline Ballroom this past week. This year’s event celebrated GRAMMY® award-winning rapper, singer, and producer Missy Elliott. During the event, recording artists Rapsody and Leikeli47 performed amazing tributes to Missy performing her hit songs, “Hot Boyz” and “She’s a B****”. Media mogul Mona Scott Young presented Missy with the Visionary Award and introduced a surprise guest, the legendary Janet Jackson, who shared a heartfelt hand-written speech with the crowd.
Celebrity arrivals, including Naturi Naughton, Lil’ Mo and Beyonce’s stylist, Ty Hunter posed on the red carpet alongside the all-new Lincoln Navigator. The 2018 Navigator was just awarded prestigious “Truck of the Year” honors at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, the country’s largest, most influential auto show. Other celebrities in attendance included rapper T.I., Slick Rick, Remy Ma, Janelle Monae, MC Lyte, June Ambrose and Tracklib ambassador Erick Sermon, who attended the event with his daughter. Civil rights activists Tarana Burke and Kaia Burke were also in attendance.
Following Black Women in Music, Lincoln Motor Company held their exclusive Lincoln “First Listen” media dinner at The Dream Hotel in downtown, NYC. R&B star Marsha Ambrosius performed to a room full of esteemed journalists and executives including Jennifer Edwards, Multicultural Communications Manager at Ford and Lincoln and Raj Register, Head of Cross Brand Strategy and Growth Audience Communications at Ford and Lincoln.
Lincoln’s First Listen series featuring songstress and hit-writer Marsha Ambrosius, proves the brand remains committed to the arts. The series previews upcoming music from rising and established musicians from behind the wheel of a Lincoln vehicle through the Revel sound system.
