Lady Gaga follows up the newly released “Perfect Illusion,” her first record since the 2013 album Art Pop; by revealing the title of her upcoming LP, Joanne.
The title of the album is Gaga’s, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta; way of honoring her aunt and father’s sister Joanne. In 1974, at the age of 19 she passed away following a battle with lupus.
Mother Monster called into Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show earlier today and discussed the status of the album, dropping on October 21.
“Actually it’s going to be done in the next 48 hours. We’re just mixing, and mastering. I kind of sometimes get some last-minute hook or harmony, little production ideas. Mark too, so we’ve just you know, been spending the last 48 hours meditating with it.”
Mark Ronson, who was also on the call; Father John Misty, and Hillary Lindsey are just some of the artists featured on collaborations appearing on the album. Gaga’s latest effort also marks a new phase in the Golden Globe winning actress’ career.
“This was a new step for me as an artist. I think mostly because I felt so embraced by contemporary boys in the business who are real, kind of music nerds.”
Joanne will include 11 songs with three additional bonus cuts on the deluxe version. A video for the album’s lead single “Perfect Illusion” is on its way and physical copies of the LP will also feature artifacts of Joanne.
While on the phone with Lowe, the pop powerhouse also revealed more details regarding the upcoming release.
“It’s so personal. Every single song…is extremely autobiographical.”
We are so looking forward to the visual for “Perfect Illusion.” In the meantime, check out Lady Gaga’s full chat with Zane Lowe below.
