The Voice of New York let her voice be heard all over NYC!

hen it comes to NYC, and hearing hip-hop on the radio, one name that comes to mind is Angie Martinez. The Brooklyn native is no stranger to being on top being that her radio show has been consistently ranked number 1 among young hip-hop listeners whether it was on Hot 97 and now her new home Power 105.1. What sets Angie apart from the rest is her interviews which always seem to deliver a side of her  celebrity guests which other radio hosts can’t pull out of them. It’s a no-brainer as to why she has such great relationships within the hip-hop community over her long successful career.

To chronicle her career Angie decided to drop a memoir perfectly titled ‘My Voice’ in which she tells the story of her childhood growing up in NYC and her rise to top in the radio industry. To reveal the book Angie rounded up a group of selected media (SFPL was in the building) put them on a Ride of Fame double-decker bus tour and took them to places dear to her.

While cruising the city Angie read excerpts from the book breaking them down in full detail and fielded questions from the media. Angie also spoke about pivotal moments in her life and told some very interesting stories as the bus made its way through different Manhattan neighborhoods. Our final stop was in Washington Heights where Angie treated everyone to some good ole Mofongo a Puerto Rican dish of course. It was also there where Angie was surprised by good friends Fat Joe, Remy Ma and Papoose.

The experience all together was extremely FLY and felt so New York. We here at the SFPL want to congratulate Angie on the release of her new book and her continued success. ‘My Voice’ is available at Barnes & Noble  and, Amazon right now!
