The White House released a video on Saturday titled “The Mentorship,” which showed President Obama and Curry going over his resume, playing Connect Four, working on Curry’s shooting form, and creating a science project. The video was released as part of Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative, which was designed to inspire Americans to mentor youth. “You don’t need all the time in the world or all the answers to be the mentor that someone needs,” said the video. “You don’t need to be an NBA star or the president of the United States to be someone’s hero.” Read more.
Beyoncé to Debut Surprise Project on HBO
Beyoncé is the queen of surprises. Two years ago, she dropped a surprise visual album, during Black History Month she unexpectedly released the song “Formation,” and now she’s gearing up for her next project. The singer took to social media on Saturday and posted a video of herself standing next to a car and slowly raising her head. At the end of the video she says, “What am I gonna do, love, what am I going to do?” She captioned the video “#LEMONADE 4.23 9PM ET | 6PM PT | HBO” with no further details, leaving all of her fans in suspense. The #Lemonade hashtag started trending on Twitter following her post. “Lemonade” is slated to premiere on April 23 at 9 p.m. on HBO. Read more.
“Empire” Stars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey Tie the Knot
Empire stars Trai Byers and Grace Gealey have officially tied the knot. The two actors, who play Andre Lyon and Anika on the show, reportedly got married Thursday on Grand Cayman Island. The couple took to Instagram on Sunday to share the news with their fans. “We’re married! God is so good. To all who have extended congrats and well wishes, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” they posted. Byers and Gealey got engaged in July. Read more.
Jamaica to Possibly Legalize Marijuana and Replace Queen
According to reports, Jamaica is slated to make two major moves. Lawmakers in the country are considering legalizing weed and replacing Queen Elizabeth II as the head of state to turn the island into a republic. Under the plan, Queen Elizabeth II would be replaced by a Non-Executive President, said Governor General Sir Patrick Allen in a statement on Thursday. The legislative agenda also features a proposal to make marijuana legal for “specified purposes.” The plans would need to be passed by Parliament to be enacted. Queen Elizabeth II serves as the head of state for the Bahamas and Barbados. Read more.
