Mob Wives star Angela “Big Ang” Raiola has passed away. The reality star was recently diagnosed with both lung and brain cancer following her initial throat cancer diagnosis for which she underwent surgery for last year.
The world learned of Big Ang’s passing via a statement released on her Twitter account.
“It is with sad regret that we inform you that at 3:01 a.m. Angelia Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer, and was called home. She was surrounded by nothing but love from her immediate family, and the closest friends. YOU, (her fans) were some of the most special people in the world, and she loved you immensely. The news comes two days after her emotional interview aired on Dr. Oz. When asked what kept her going through her battle with the disease she cited her family as her motivation.”I look at my kids and my grandchildren and I know how much they need me,” she told Oz. Big Ang also revealed having been declared cancer-free twice, only to learn that the cancer had returned and spread to other areas of her body.
Big Ang had been a cigarette smoker for 40 years, a fact doctors attributed as the cause of her illness. Following her diagnosis the reality star quit, and urged her fans to quit smoking and to never pick up the habit.
Big Ang will always be remembered for her infectious personality and caring spirit. We send our condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.
