ABC Entertainment Group announced today that Channing Dungey will be taking over for Paul Lee as President. The shakeup comes a year after Ben Sherwood took over as president of Disney/ABC TV Group and following long speculated rumors that Lee’s days on the network were numbered.
Dungey an ABC veteran becomes the first African-American woman to run a broadcast network. Since Dungey joined the network in 2009 her credits include American Crime and Once Upon a Time, not to mention she’s been dubbed the Shonda Rhimes whisperer by her colleagues.
Dungey will assume her new role effective immediately. Her involvement in the networks development, as well as her years of experience in the entertainment industry, ensure she is more than qualified to take over the reigns.
