When all else fails, what do Republicans do? Blame Obama! While “stumping for Trump” at a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma yesterday former Vice Presidential nominee, Sarah Palin managed to politicize her sons arrest.
Palin did her best to make her case when she stated:
I can talk personally about this. I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room-because my own family, going through what we’re going through today with my son, a combat vet having served in a Stryker brigade fighting for you all, America, in a war zone. But my son, like so many others, they come back a bit different. They come back hardened, wondering if there is that respect for what their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military have given so sacrificially to this country, and that starts at the top.
So when my own son is going through what he goes through coming back, I can certainly relate with other families who kind of feel these ramifications of PTSD and some of the woundedness that our soldiers do return with,” she continued. “And it makes me realize more than ever, it is now or never for the sake of America’s finest that we’ll have that commander-in-chief who will respect them and honor them.”
The same tired old right-wing rhetoric, is there anything they won’t blame President Obama for? To bring you up to speed on Tracks case, he was arrested at her house Monday night for allegedly punching and kicking his girlfriend for contacting her ex. He also threatened to kill himself by holding an AR-15 machine gun to his head. Palin’s 26-year-old son reportedly suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). He also claimed that his girlfriend attacked him, hitting him in the eye and elbow. He was well enough to be by his mother’s side when she initially endorsed Donald Trump for president.
Track is still in some hot water and faces many charges from the incident such as assault, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and interfering with a domestic violence report. Palin’s claims have caught the ears of founder and CEO, Paul Rieckh0ff of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a New York-based veterans group who wants Palin to back off Obama when it comes to this matter. Seriously Sarah and fellow Republicans you might want to listen to these actual vets who feel otherwise.
Rieckhoff spoke to NBC News about Palin’s blaming Obama:
It’s not President Obama’s fault that Sarah Palin’s son has PTSD. PTSD is a very serious problem, a complicated mental health injury and I would be extremely reluctant to blame any one person in particular.
It’s important to recognize that Track may need help like many veterans” — and that his mother is in a position to use her influence to help him and other vets.
This is a great opportunity for Sarah Palin to sound the alarm about PTSD. Now that she has endorsed Mr. Trump, I would encourage her to talk with him about it. Mr. Trump’s campaign is pretty light on specifics about what he would do for veterans.
I hope this doesn’t become a political chew toy in a political campaign.
It might be too late for that, as herself and her Republican friends would use any moment to somehow criticize Obama to help their campaigns. Frankly though this whole blame Obama thing is so old now, to see it’s still the go to method of getting people to raise their fists in the air at these rallies is ridiculous.
Our sentiments exactly Barack!
