Singer/Songwriter JR Castro has been creating quite a buzz for himself with his new single/visual “Get Home” featuring Kid Ink & Quavo (of Migos). The official video to the hit song is not only climbing the music charts, but has now reached over 1 million views on Vevo in a matter of 3 weeks. The song was inspired by Faith Evans‘ 1995 cut “Soon As I Get Home”, which you can hear the classic lyrics written by Sean “Puffy” Combs, Carl Thomas and Faith herself, throughout the chorus of the song. Castro also currently has a collaborative tune with Sevyn Streeter & YG entitled “That Shit Go (Up-Down), produced by Polow Da Don.

Recently, the up and coming Las Vegas talent stopped by Stuff Fly People Like‘s very own, SFPL TV to talk about his upcoming debut EP You Executive Produced by Timbaland, his forthcoming mixtape Songs You Were Made To, wanting to work with Quincy Jones, Kehlani and Meelah (formally of 702) and also speaks on the phrase “R&B is dead,” which seems to be a verbal term that is used due to the disappointment of Soul music. In the midst of the interview, Castro also performed the Ready For The World classic, “Love You Down” LIVE.

About Timbaland he says:

Ah man, it was an outer-earth experience man…he’s an alien! That’s what I call him! He’s great, he’s inspiring, and he just really knows how to really elevate one’s prospective, especially on their approach to music.

About the term “R&B Is Dead”:

I think R&B is confused. I don’t think it’s dead, I just think it’s confused. I think that because Hip-Hop is so dominant that the R&B guys are trying to figure out a way…(as he pause, sighs and thinks of the right words to say)…….It’s like this, I feel like R&B now is “Rap-Melod'” — it’s rap lyrics sung over R&B melodies. You know what I mean? Which, takes away from the essence of R&B. The true core of R&B. That’s what I feel about it — I just think it’s confused.
