Sorry to keep you guys waiting on the recap but we were a little busy over the weekend. Let us get into this weekends episode of Power, boy did Courtney Kemp Agboh and the Power writers definitely put their foots in this episode. Let us recap , shall we?
Episode 6 opens up with Angela out of the bathroom stall of despair meeting with Holly at a diner after she revealed that Angela’s boo Jamie is Ghost. Secretly we can tell Angela is in her head hoping that Holly is full of shit, but she is still determined to find out. Holly reveals that she saw Jamie with a gun and hand the gun off to Tommy to dispose of. Holly is determined to save the only person she cares about and embarks on a mission to recover the weapon.
While Holly is formulating a plan to save Tommy,he is meeting with their new partner Vlad.
Tommy is treated to a lesson in torture 101 from Vlad, him and his gang are turning a poor Albanian into rat food and Tommy is enjoying every minute of it.
Tommy’s plan of hitting the Serb’s where it hurts worked perfectly and it turns out the final touch calling the Albanians gypsies sealed the deal. Ghost finally arrives to the party to make the deal official with Vlad, he missed the first show but Vlad has another show lined up for him for him.
Vlad brings out another Albanian to torture, this time instead of a rat he breaks out a chainsaw. Clearly an homage to the chainsaw scene in the hood classic Scarface.
He asks Ghost if he wants to do the honors, Ghost declines of course. Vlad’s crazy ass chops up that poor soul for something he didn’t even do. Ghost and Tommy clearly bit off more than they can chew with this guy Vlad and if he ever finds out it was them they are in trouble. After the meeting with Vlad, Ghost questions Tommy about his new friend Dre.
Tommy vouches for Dre and his man crush on Kanan is on full display when he tells Ghost that Kanan spoke for him and he was right “like always”.
Meanwhile poor Tariq isn’t handling the fact that his dad is not home to watch the Knicks struggle with him anymore. He gets in trouble at school and suspended for fighting another student and Tasha is called in for the matter.
Tasha’s stubbornness and refusal to let Ghost back home is clearly affecting Tariq. The principal brings up the fact that Tariq has mentioned that his dad is not home. Ms. Chambers points out domestic transitions can harm kids in ways that are unseen. She tells Tasha what we are all thinking that Tariq needs his dad and that she should let Ghost talk to him. Of course Tasha isn’t trying to hear that and takes the advice with a grain of salt. Tasha leaves the meeting visibly salty but deep down she knows Ghost needs to be around those kids especially Tariq.
Meanwhile the feds learn that Lobos is on the move and that he will be linking up with Ghost soon.
They figure if they got Lobos in town they can nail both him and Tommy aka the fake Ghost. Angela is clearly out of it still after Holly’s admission.
Greg takes the opportunity to ask Angela if she’s doing okay after he noticed she was upset last episode. Knowing she’s hiding something he also asks about her whereabouts that night knowing good and well Angela was going to lie about it. She tells Greg she was home that night not knowing that Greg spotted her with Ghost already. Greg was basically looking at her like riiiigghhhht you were home.
The brief interrogation is interrupted by a text from Jamie asking Angela if they are still on for lunch.
The tension between the these two is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Ghost opens up to Angela about the problems going on with Tariq and him lashing out and him not being there to help him. Angela immediately thinks it’s because of her but Jamie reassured her that it’s not her fault. The tone changes for a bit when Ghost brings up Tommy and Angela’s ears point up. She asks where is Tommy and Jamie quickly deflects by bringing up the fact they agreed not to bring him up anymore.
Meanwhile Holly is once again pantsless *rolls eyes* looking for the gun she told Angela about desperate to clear Tommy’s name.
Her search is immediately interrupted when Tommy walks in, she makes it seem like she was searching for a bottle opener. We were kinda hoping her ass got caught though.
Holly asks Tommy where he was and of course he open’s his big mouth uttering the name Ghost around her telling her he was making money with him. Holly expresses concern and tells Tommy she wants him to be careful when him and Ghost are working. Tommy jokingly tells her he’s “too smart to get shot” and he’s “too smart get caught, prison is for assholes”. Looks like he’s not that smart, the two decide to get intimate and little freaky and we have endure it.
Tommy breaks out the handcuffs and uses them on Holly. Those same cuffs will be important later on in the recap. Holly puts Tommy to sleep and decides to continue her search so she can save Tommy. She moves the hunt for the gun to Tommy’s car.
Frantically searching she comes upon a hidden weapon in the trunk of the car. Let’s be real if a black man was driving that car he would have been pulled over and that weapon would have been found. Looks like mission accomplished for Holly and Tommy won’t be going away after all or so she thought.
With Vlad and the Serb’s temporarily on board Ghost and Tommy bring all the crews together to get acquainted with one another.
