THE BOYS ARE BACK! Last night team SFPL saw an advanced press screening of Entourage, one of the most anticipated movies of the summer since it’s announcement. Did it live up to the hype though? Hit the jump to see what we thought about the movie.

Director Doug Ellin immediately picks up where the HBO show bid farewell to fans 4 years ago. We join Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon), Turtle ( Jerry C Ferrara) and Eric (Kevin Connolly) as they ride on what looks to be one of the most expensive speedboats we have ever seen. They are on their way to meet the head of t he crew Vince (Adrian Grenier) who is throwing a party on a yacht in the middle of the ocean in true typical Entourage fashion. We find out Vince is no longer married to the woman he put a ring on after their first date in the series finale. Turtle is still the loyal driver but a multi-millionaire, E and Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui) have separated but are still expecting a child any day now, and Drama is still mooching off his brother Vince.

Vince gets a call from his super-agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) who they thought retired, come to find out he took the job to be the head of his own movie studio. He offers Vince the role of a lifetime, of course Vince has to spice things up, and ups the ante saying the only way he’s doing the movie is if he gets to direct the film as well.
*Cue the classic Entourage opening theme music*
Vince and his endless supply of cardigans have gotten the okay to make the movie from Ari much to the studios dismay. Things get even more out of hand when Ari finds out that Vince has gone way over budget in the film. Ari made a promise to his wife (Perrey Reeves) that he would no longer lose his cool cause of work but the movie isn’t helping matters. Poor Ari has to work his magic to get Vince the money he needs to complete the film even without the help of his partners who desperately want to see the finished product.
Ari goes to meet with Larsen McCredle (Billy Bob Thorton) a rich oil tycoon who is shelling out the bucks for the movie. He tells Ari the only way he’s handing out another dollar is if his son Travis (Haley Joel Osment) sees the film and approves of it. Yes they got the kid from The Sixth Sense who is all grown up now and no longer sees dead people. Thus setting up the latest adventure for our favorite crew.

Entourage the movie is definitely for the most passionate fans of the show. It successfully captures the magic of the show that fans came to love to see on Sunday nights. The mild drug use, sex, endless celebrity cameos, expensive cars and all of your favorite characters that fans have come to expect to see in the show are all there.

We absolutely loved Ronda Rousey and Turtle’s scene it was one of the many bright spots. *Beanz Speaking* I definitely would have gotten in the ring with her for 60 seconds just saying.

For casual moviegoers who may have never seen the show or just a few episodes this movie isn’t so much a home run, as they may walk out with an empty feeling from it. It doesn’t really capture them and make them want to go binge watch every episode on HBO GO.

Entourage isn’t perfect by any means and fails to impress like the shows first episode did. That’s very unfortunate especially being on such a grander scale. That doesn’t mean its still not a fun enjoyable movie. For what it’s worth it does it’s job as far as recapturing the magic of the shows final season. The jokes, cameos and over the top Hollywood scenarios definitely do their best to make up where the movie lacks. Drama, Ari and Turtle definitely stood out the most in the film and took advantage of the opportunity to shine on the big screen. We definitely recommend this film for Entourage fans, it is the movie you have been waiting for.
