NOT ONE MORE! The unique date 12-13-14 was the day more than 50,000 people of all colors, races and walks of life came together, and shouted NOT ONE MORE! Protestors met at Washington Square Park at 2pm, demonstrators let their voices be heard as two emcees got them ready for the 4-hour march on NYC.
Demonstrators chanted the names of Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, as well as popular rally cries “I Can’t Breathe” and “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” while they marched up 5th Ave and 6th Ave ,completely shutting the streets down.
Saturday’s day of action in NYC paralleled protests in Washington D.C. earlier that day that drew more than 10,000 people. It was a beautiful site to see people united for one cause and peacefully get the message out that they are tired of police brutality. Notable faces in the crowd were the cast of the popular Netflix series Orange is the New Black, Kevin Liles, NaS and Russell Simmons.
We also tip our hat to the ‘Millions March‘ organizers Synead and Umarra E for putting on a successful and positive display of unity and solidarity. Zero arrests were reported during the march, arrests were recorded for separate incidents not related to Saturday’s demonstration.
