Columbus Short, an actor that ladies once drooled over, has recently admitted that he had been struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.
“I’ll be candid; I was struggling with drugs”….
Columbus told Access Hollywood Live as he talked about how he lost himself. With what he considers “heavy duty stuff”, he dealt with it all by “doing cocaine and drinking a lot” because he was “trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family.”

His cocaine and alcohol use resulted in him: being charged with misdemeanor spousal battery by his wife Tanee McCall-Short and later a divorce followed by dismissal from ABC’s hit drama Scandal. He says the cast was aware, they wanted to help and indeed “they protected me and held me down”.
“Sometimes the bottom has to be dropped out for you to really get it, so I moved to Atlanta. I’ve been living here for the past five months – five and a half months and it’s just been great. It’s been life changing.”
Short sounds to me like he’s on the road to being normal and deal with his problems without drugs. He says he’s working on an album and the music has been really therapeutic. His ultimate goal is to be back on set.
“I’m really ready to get back to work. As far as Shonda’s shows, I would love nothing more to go back to ‘Scandal’: It’s my family”.
Columbus also sends out an official apology on Instagram:
Via IG: “If I never return to Scandal that’s okay. Because I got you guys!!!! Love you all and it’s time to #GETITDONE #GODISGOOD #FREEDOM #BLOCKHOUSE”
