After the unfortunate riot methods in #Ferguson, once the non-indictment results were announced, Bakery owner Natalie Dubose of Natalie’s Cakes & More, was one of the few businesses that rioters took their frustrations upon. Starting a Kickstarter program by supporters to restore her business just after the incident, Natalie received more than she expected.
Originally, supporters formulated a goal of $20,000 for Natalie in help to restore her business, which was totally vandalized.
As of Thursday afternoon, a Kickstarter launched by supporter Kristine Froeba had raised more than a whopping $226,000, and donations were still pouring in by the minute. Right now, the total donation amount is at $229,122, which was raised by 7,119 people in 1 day! Now, that’s FLY!
Another campaign formulated by David Swingle raised an additional $10,325. That page now suggests donors visit the other.
Natalie spoke on the mounds of donations that she received:
“I’m overwhelmed by the amazing generosity I’m receiving,” Dubose, who opened the bakery over the summer, wrote on the Natalie’s Cakes and More Fund page.
“I’m beside myself, but with the holidays, can’t stop working,” Dubose wrote on the page earlier this week. “I’m very busy cleaning and trying to repair my business. I’m also trying to catchup on baking cakes for Thanksgiving!”
It’s quite amazing how everyone is coming together, and supporting each other, especially in Natalie’s case. Starting a business is not easy, and were glad that Natalie got the help that she needed!
