On Wednesday, July 23rd HBO/Cinemax held a special screening for The Knick uptown at The New York Academy of Medicine, a new series coming to Cinemax staring Clive Owen and André Holland.
VIP guests got a chance t see 2 episodes of the series which has already been picked up for a second season. After the screening guests were treated to a post-screening reception, which featured a jazz performance by Mo’ Betta Wu featuring Amanda Seales and composed by Kris Bowers. There was also a panel moderated by Neil Drumming (culture critic) which included Supervising Producer of The Knick, Steven Katz.
Show synopsis: André Holland (“42”, ABC’s “Friend’s with Benefits” “Selma”), who delivers a gripping performance as Dr. Algernon Edwards, a gifted African-American Harvard graduate who joins a team of surgeons, steered by Doctor John Thackery, played by Clive Owen. Together they embark on a ground-breaking voyage to save lives, revolutionize medicine and seek reverence in the shadows of corruption and discrimination at an economically challenged, all-white facility.
