Estelle is back again with a powerful record entitled “Conqueror”, which is the lead track off of Estelle’s forthcoming album, ‘True Romance,’ due for release on November 4, 2014 via Estelle’s own imprint Established 1980 Inc/BMG Rights.
The featured track is an inspirational song featuring a sky-high chorus, powerful vocals and an infectious hook, ushers in a new chapter in Estelle’s artistic and personal journey. Feeling bold, strong and courageous, Estelle sets the tone for True Romance with this soulful pop gem.
For a special fly treat, PRESS HERE to watch acclaimed ballerina Misty Copeland brings “Conqueror” to life through dance. After overcoming personal adversity as a child, Copeland became the first African American soloist in two decades (and only the second in history) to join American Ballet Theatre – the epitome of a conqueror. ‘True Romance’, Estelle’s fourth studio album, is anchored by 4 themes – passion, courage, true romance and the bullshit. As she began to rediscover herself after a tough breakup, she saw how these four elements can play into the success, or the decline, or a relationship. Showing a more personal side with this new collection of songs, Estelle lets go completely, and takes us along for the ride.
Says Estelle, “Every song fits into one of these themes. This is a real body of work, just like when you do an art piece, or when you have all these awesome images on your Instagram. You want people to see the full you.”
On the soulful “Silly Girls,” Estelle slows down the pace to give listeners a real sense of her vulnerability as a woman. On“Something Good,” Estelle gets her groove back with a booty-poppin, feel good, throwback track that brought the singer back to her roots. “The Same” is a track where Estelle comes to a revelation that she’s tired of the bullshit. “All That Matters” sums up the journey, reminding us that true love is all we need.
Earlier this year Estelle released her much buzzed-about track “Make Her Say (Beat It Up),” (which will be included on True Romance.) It’s an unapologetic and provocative song about ownership and being in a relationship on your terms. The video shows couples with no retouching or filters – a celebration of being comfortable in your own skin. PRESS HERE to watch.
Up-and-coming artists Maya Farrow and Sydney James created the album artwork along with Rebecca Sugar who is the creator/animator of Steven Universe, the Cartoon Network show in which Estelle voices the character of Garnet.
Estelle just blew the roof off of the ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans and will be playing shows throughout the summer.
