Oakland modern soul man, Adrian Marcel made heads turn Sunday night during his performance at the 2014 BET Awards.
The R&B singer and songwriter delivered a smooth rendition of the James Brown classic, “It’s A Man’s World”. Capturing the legend’s iconic tone and coupling it with his own savvy, Marcel brought the audience to its feet. A recording of “It’s A Man’s World” is also available on the compilation BET Presents Music Matters, Vol. 1 out now.
Adrian just rounded out a knockout weekend. He’s the only artist who has performed at all three BET Awards events—the BET Music Matters Concert Series, the BET Experience, and the BET Awards ceremony.
Moreover, the summer’s only getting hotter for him. He will support 21st century diva Keyshia Cole on her upcoming 26-city ‘Point of No Return’ tour. Marcel joins Cole on Tuesday, July 22nd at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, MI through August 25th at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA.
Protégé of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Raphael Saadiq, Adrian garnered high praises out of the gates following the release of his first official mixtape, ‘7 Days of Weak,’ in April 2013. Equipped with a silky smooth voice, the rising artist has drawn comparisons to industry heavy weights such as Al B. Sure, El Debarge, Frank Ocean, and Chris Brown.
Adrian’s new single, “2AM” featuring Sage The Gemini, is currently climbing at radio outlets nationwide, recently making its debut in the Top 10 on iTunes R&B chart. It’s the quintessential Bay Area banger, bringing together his own silky voice with Sage The Gemini’s robust flow. The super sexy video is nearing 2 million views on YouTube/VEVO after only a month online. Get it on iTunes and all digital outlets now.
