What a beautiful day in the industry neighborhood, as Blackground Records finally releases singer JoJo from their contractual paws; and the talented artist has now officially signed with Atlantic Records.
According the Los Angeles Times, Jo ends an exhaustive multi-year battle with her former label, which a representative for the singer has confirmed to Pop & Hiss.
For those that weren’t aware, legal troubles with her longtime label left the singer unable to issue new music commercially. But JoJo took matters into her own hands – keeping her fans afloat, releasing two mixtapes; 2010’s – ‘Can’t Take That Away From Me’ & 2012’s – ‘Agape’.
JoJo now joins her new Atlantic home with the likes of; K. Michelle, Bruno Mars, Wiz Khalifa, T.I., Trey Songz, Janelle Monae and more. Jo will be working on her third album, as it is soon-to-be released from her new record label home.
Also, be on the lookout for Joanna Levesque aka JoJo, as she plays a well-poised but funny actress in an upcoming comedy film ‘G.B.F. (Gay Best Friend)’, which debuts on Jan. 17th (this Friday!).
Congrats again JoJo!
