Platinum Artist JoJo Stars in ‘Gay Best Friend (G.B.F.)’, Movie Debuts On January 17th, 2014…

Vertical Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to the anticipated high school comedy G.B.F. – ‘Gay Best Friend’, and it stars our favorite singer-songwriter-actress, JoJo! Read more about the film and peep the trailer below…

Directed by Darren Stein (Jawbreaker) from the first screenplay by George Northy, the film stars Sasha Pieterse (ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”), Evanna Lynch (The Harry Potter Franchise), Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black”), Joanna “JoJo” Levesque (RV, Aquamarine), Paul Iacono (MTV’s “The Hard Times of RJ Berger”), Michael J. Willett (Showtime’s “United States of Tara”), Molly Tarlov (MTV’s “Awkward”), Megan Mullally (The Kings of Summer, Somebody Up There Likes MeRebecca Gayheart (Jawbreaker, Urban Legend).  The highly anticipated film comes out on January 17th, 2014 domestically. 

G.B.F. is produced by Richard Bever and Stephen Israel (Swimming with Sharks) along with Stein and Northy and executive produced by Jennifer Levine, David Skinner and Tom Gorai.  After its enthusiastic reception at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, the film will be shown at Outfest as their Closing Night Gala on July 21, 2013.  Vertical Entertainment’s Rich Goldberg announced the deal today.

G.B.F. is a coming of age film that’s reminiscent of movie classics set in high school, but with a modern twist,” said Goldberg.  “We are excited to acquire this film and bring this film to all platforms.

“Vertical Entertainment is on the vanguard of multi-platform distribution, having a thorough understanding of the release strategy needed to maximize exposure and audience for a teen comedy like G.B.F.,” said Stein.  “We look forward to working with them and sharing this film with audiences everywhere.”
