SFPL’S EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: DAWN RICHARD

Recently, I had a great convo with Dawn Richard. We discussed many things that are going on in her life and what she will be pursuing in the future. Also, we talked about things that were being said *rumored* about her, the state of Danity Kane, etc.
Now, don’t expect a word for word layout. We don’t do that here at SFPL…it’s unnecessary. *blank stare*

First, let me just say that it was a pleasure speaking with Dawn. Not only is she insightful, but she really knows what direction she wants to go in and she is working very diligently to achieve her goals.
To smash some of the rumors, Dawn and Que are still together. She mentioned that they are stronger than ever and that Que is her boy for life. *stand by your man Dawn!*
The state of Danity Kane, you ask? Well, she didn’t release too much info on that part but, as far as, we know Aundrea is still around. She mentioned that you should stay tuned to Making The Band on MTV and you will soon find out. Could there be a new member in the midst?…Hmmm….I am not at liberty to say at this point but you will soon find out. Trust me.
Also, she is in the studio with Que and the bruthas of Day 26 working on a song or two for their sophomore album and also she is working with Cassie. Dawn has been writing non-stop and has about 150 songs under her belt. She hopes to collab with artists such as, Chrisette Michelle, Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan and Keri Hilson. Along with hopes of collaborating with such artists, she is also heavily influcened musically by Kanye West, John Mayer & Fallout Boy.
As Dawn arises day to day, she is reminded that music is her life. God and her major fan base are the two main reasons why she continues to work very hard. She would never consider a career change, as she reiterated a few times. She hopes to also build a resume in writing and producing.
Dawn loves fashion and loves to dress out of the norm. From Boho Chic to her favorite designer PREEN, Dawn’s style ties in with her character, and there are no limits for her when it comes to taking risks.

At the end of the day, Dawn remains humble and thanks God every day for what she has accomplished thus far. She admits that she really miss the group as a whole. There is no regret of her being apart of Danity Kane and she wouldn’t trade that experience for the world. But at this point, she has to move on to bigger and better things.
Dawn currently has a comic book titled “Danity Kane Comics” Volume 1, which is available at www.DANITYKANECOMICS.com. Volume 2 & 3 are set to be released later on this year.

Naw… Dawn has madd stuff to say… maybe Vanson… it was the interviewer… but I believe Dawn is the most level headed women on Danity Kane… the artist with the longest longevity… Dawn will be around for years from now… while Aubrey will be done after Playboy.

Great interview. Dawn is one of the most humble people I have ever met. Her talent is limitless and she has one of the most out of sight work ethics I have ever observed. She always has something insightful to say and she is very deep She’s always working and she is such a positive person and a positive force in this industry and she is a sweetheart and extremely down to earth with a beautiful spirit. Dawn is the most level headed in Danity Kane and one of the most level headed in this business. She has the ability to survive and be extremely successful in this business because she has the right drive, the right attitude, the talent, etc, etc, etc.

Dawn is fiyah and she has an uparalleled dedication to music because she loves it. She is the true definition of an artist and anyone that debates that needs their heads checked. You can’t help but love her because she is the real deal. Dawn is making it and she proves to all her haters everyday that nothing is impossible if you just work hard and remain faithful. Dawn is DOPE!!!! She has a great love understanding and appreciation for the music business and her longevity wilk be a result of those things. She is humble and has a kind spirit and in return is blessed and highly favored. She will survive, I can’t for all the great things she has to offer!!!!!!

Nice Interview Gabe, but lets face it, she’s boring. Talented yes, but boring. Now lets get the one we all want to read about “AUBREY”!!!!!!!! LOL…..btw on a side note, has anyone seen the MTV Cribs edition with Aubrey??? The girls need a take a page out of her book, her house is amazing, while them other DK chicks are broke. Dawn is fly as hell… For all of u who cant see that, are blind. She knows how to hustle and she knows how to work around the shady ass industry. I’m not worried not one bit about her and her success, cause she’s got what it takes. As for Aubrey on MTV cribs. I seriously doubt she bought that house herself, all them damn ppl in the house..SMDH anywho>> Team DAWN!!!

Dawn is the real deal and she’ll be in the music/entertainment/fashion industry for YEARS to come because she’s about something and is dedicated to her craft. I love Dawn and I look forward to her being one of my favorite artist for years to come.

LMAO…..yea, what vanson said…..yeah…. but seriously people, we’re not haters. I wish her the best, I actually like her (minus Que), but there’s something blah about her, just my opinion. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen her do her thing live without the DK girls (her performance with puff was horrible btw) and the helpless victim of a failed group is getting tired on Making the Band.

So yeah… People GET interviewed because somebody (the media, the interview…FANS) think that the person is interesting for some reason. So regardless of what some ppl think, OTHERS believe that she is worthy of this publicity…::shrugs:: …so if she’s so boring, go read Playboy..I bet it’s much more stimulating..
In other news…DAWN is the business! It’s funny how all these people who saw her as just a “character” on Diddy’s reality television show and now when they get the chance to meet her and converse, they are absolutely SMITTEN…haha. The girl has that affect!!

I’m one person Jay…it doesn’t matter what i want to hear. It does, however, matter what the REST of the world wants to hear, and according to this interview and the other 20 or 30 that Dawn has done in the past couple of months, the REST of the world wants to hear Dawn! That’s it….finito!
Your problem isn’t with us…it’s with the well deserved publicity and notoriety that Dawn is gaining. And you should be congratulating instead of callin the girl BORING…GET WITH THE COME UP!

Dawn is a talented, classy, beautiful person, inside and out. She has a great personality and she is humble and real. She has a voice that is really incredible. Her dancing and stage presence, as well as her comic book will make her a triple threat in the near future. Her fans, who are behind her no matter what, will support her in everything she does. Can’t wait until she blows up big time.

Vanson, I’ve met her not once, but twice. The second time me and a friend interviewed her and after the interview, she let us stay backstage up until the show. We didn’t even ask, she wanted us to stay. She is truly a beautiful and lovely person. Extremely down to earth, humble, and has a great sense of humor. It was just like hanging out with one of my girls. Dawn is a positive force, it radiates and it’s like a glow. People that have not me her yet can still feel it, just by her posts and her video blogs, etc. They don’t need to meet her to see how wonderful she is, it stands out. There are quite a few people that have been blessed to be in her presence, so don’t assume that people don’t know her or haven’t met her.

Nice interview, but what type of genre will she be focusing on? I can not even see her as an RnB type singer maybe she needs to stay behind in the background and continue writing. Unless she’s willing to create her own lane like Solange did? Nah can’t see it…oh well.

Real2U you make a valid point and ask a valid question. Her writing (behind-the-scenes) seems to be focused on RnB, but for other artists. Her own taste in music is very eclectic, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her do an electro-pop (European edged) or even Rock album in the future. Her voice is very, very strong and those are genres she loves and could be successful in. I personally love RnB, so I would love to hear her take on that genre, because I know she’d do well there too.

Also… I challenge you people who have so many doubts about the girl to do your research. Find out why so many people find her so interesting before talking slick about her. You might surprise yourself. Listen to some of her music, and read about her (everything isn’t shown on television). Researching [before commenting about what you don't know about] is the sensible thing to do. Otherwise… it’s just noise. Doesn’t matter.
