The Compound Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club teamed up for the 6th Annual Compound Foundation Giving Tour, working to create awareness and action towards their goal of helping under privileged youth and foster care children. As founder of The Compound Foundation, NE-YO kicked-off the tour at The Boys and Girls Club in Las Vegas on December 17th, followed by Los Angeles on December 18th, Newark on December 19thand then ending in Atlanta on December 20th.
2000 local children ages 3-18 were provided toys, sneakers, clothing, electronics and bicycles at the Atlanta event courtesy of Kids in Distressed Situations, Coca Cola, Creative Recreation, Ubisoft, Cartoon Network, Applebee’s, Lucasfilm Ltd., Together We Rise and Carol’s Daughter. The tour instills the spirit of selflessness, providing a welcoming sense of community and acceptance to children in foster care and group homes. NE-YO was joined by special guest Herndon Mayor Andy Hefen, Los Angeles Mayor, Newark Mayor Corey Booker, owners of the clothing brand pastry Angela & Vanessa Simmons, St. Louis Rams player Steven Jackson, and NFL Superbowl champion Deon Grant, Founder of Grant D Knowledge Foundation.
“We created The Giving Tour to help uplift the spirits of these children who for many reasons may not be able to experience the holiday,” said Compound Foundation Executive Director Khalilah Abdul-Baqi. “Each child that we have reached since our inaugural event five years ago still holds a piece of my heart, and I’m thrilled to continue this amazing series with another round of outstanding and deserving kids.”
This highly anticipated event commits to providing a brighter holiday season for youth living in foster care. Raising awareness towards two important foundations, The Compound Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club of America, the Giving Tour serves as an experience and celebration of giving.
