Ladies & Gentlemen, after four + years of blogging, Stuff Fly People Like has decided to take a step that no other blog has attempted. In the spirit of Digital Magazines, SFPL will premiere a Digital Cover every MONTH!
Introducing the premiere Digital Cover Of Stuff Fly People Like featuring Songstress Elle Varner!
Does this mean SFPL is no longer a Blog? Nope. We started out as a blog, and will always remain one. This is our passion and our niche, and we shall remain the entity we started out as. We will however, include this new digital element with a representative of the Fly Community covering our blog, every month. So you can look forward to a different Artist, Athlete, Actor, Trendsetter, etc, to cover the official voice of the Fly People.
We believe that there are too many individuals making a Fly impact on our society that go unnoticed, so we will step in to feel that void.
Take a ride with us, starting with our first cover girl, Elle Varner. We’ve been following the siren way before the First Lady, Michelle Obama gave her an official co-sign (we have her first reaction to that below by the way) and felt she conveyed the very essence of what we’d like our covers to represent. Enough babbling, enjoy our first Cover, Fashion spread and article below!

Sitting in a booth at Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen just blocks away from the madness of Times Square I
am simply in awe. The set of cover shoot for the soulful Elle Varner is full of light-hearted laughs as she
turns up her inner model and commands attention. As the new R&B diva spices up the atmosphere with
grace and elegance it becomes no mystery as to how her fan base goes as far to even inspire the white
house. Varner’s debut album “Perfectly Imperfect” has been on repeat for The First Daughter Malia
Obama. In a recent interview First Lady Michelle Obama said after her daughter played the album for
her she quickly acquired a few favorites.

“I couldn’t believe it. I thought at first it was just a rumor, but then I watched and it was definitely real,”
says Varner in response to the shock of the news.
“I was shocked but also proud that the White House approves my music for their precious daughters to
listen to. I made an album that simply told my story, and that it could be appreciated by both a 14-year-
old and her mother [is amazing].”
Catering to multiple audiences is a trait that Elle Varner is well on her way to mastering, but she may
also be the missing link to reviving an entire genre. Rhythm and Blues have definitely evolved over the
years, but with the popularity of rap, some feel that it has taken a back seat. Elle acknowledges the
missing element and plans to take the world by storm in the process of getting the genre back to its
roots.
“I think Rhythm and Blues is missing the “Blues” and that emotional hits-you-in-your-chest feeling that it
was built on. The rhythms are there but the quality and content just aren’t what they used to be. Luckily,
there are a lot of artists right now not only making great R&B, but getting some mainstream shine as
well. I plan to take my music to a worldwide level so R&B isn’t the one trying to squeeze into the picture,
but actually standing proud in the center of the photo.”

Varner is advocate about putting soul back into music and would love to do so with dream
collaborations with artists like Frank Ocean and Luke James, it wouldn’t be a goal too far fetched. “I
want to make a classic R&B collab like Marvin and Tammi Terrell,” says the soul singer.

Aside from her unique sound, Elle is also known for her unique style and proudly claims “FLYNESS” in her
own lane, “My style is fun, unpredictable, and unique. I wear a lot of bows and glasses as accessories.
I don’t wear things for shock value, but more to express how I’m feeling that day or in that moment. I
definitely like to push the envelope.”
The songstress defines “FLY” as “…the way you treat people, the things you say and do more than what
you are wearing, driving, etc. It’s the love that surrounds you and the love you give.” Asked to give a
heart-to-heart message to all her fans, Varner encourages them to “FLY”…literally.

“I would tell them first and foremost that I genuinely love and care for them and I would ask them how
much they love themselves. I would want them to know that they are beautiful just they are and they
can have/do/be ANYTHING they want no matter how big or “unrealistic”.. That’s exactly how I got here
and it was by no means easy, but I never stopped believing in my dreams. If nothing else take that with
them and FLY.”
Beauty is definitely more than skin deep for this R&B legend-in-the- making. We look forward to
more business ventures from Ms. Varner, maybe even a clothing line. In the meantime, Elle Varner is
definitely FLY GIRL APPROVED!
