I was pretty sad when Aretha Franklin decided to skip Whitney Houston‘s funeral on Saturday. I was looking forward to her tribute and YES, I did give a slight *side-eye* when she didn’t show up. I mean, who misses the funeral of a good friend? But then I realized that it must have been pretty bad for her to miss it. Aretha contributed her absence from the funeral to ‘leg spasms’, ok fine. But then I heard she was she was skipping across the stage at her show later that night at Radio Music Hall.

She states,

Regretfully, I am so sorry that I was unable to be with you at Whitney’s service today. I had every intention of being there. But unfortunately I had terrible leg spasms and locked leg muscles until 4:00AM this morning following my concert last night, which I’ve been having for the last few days. I feel it necessary and very important to stay off my leg today as much as possible until concert time this evening. My heart goes out to my dear friend Cissy, Dionne, Bobbi Kristina and the rest of the family. May God keep them all.

*Hmph*

Granted she was getting a check for Saturday evening’s concert, New Jersey is not that far from where her concert took place.
