DNAY B

’s unique story begins in the melting pot of all cultures – Harlem. As the middle child, DNAY B. became aware of performance in her adolescence. In her youth, she performed in local talent shows & showcases. Winning and being center-stage was no strange thing to her for she went on to act, sing and dance in numerous Carnegie Hall and Off Broadway productions. Her talent wasn’t overlooked. Overnight, DNAY B would go from being a local teen sensation, to a provocative and musically in-tune performer.
An over achiever, DNAY B’s inevitable rise to superstardom became apparent when upon High School graduation, she booked her first industry gig with Terror Squad’s Bronx Diva, Remy Martin. Since then, she’s graced videos, been featured in magazines and performed on television and concert stages worldwide with a plethora of artists ranging from Old Skool legends, like Curtis Blow, to today’s icons, such as Beyonce, Chris Brown, Mario, and Ashanti, to Latin heavy-hitters Notch and Don Omar, and international mega-stars like Anna Vissi. Working with these masterminds, in their own right, presented her with the rare opportunity to perfect and master the art and essence of performing using her fire to ignite and dominate stages, capture the audience, and ultimately shine from within. This compilation of skills and experience has led her to her newfound brewing love and true calling: Music……

We caught up with Dnay to ask her our coveted 5 Questions, step into her responses and her EPK below.

1. What’s your inspiration?

Well where should I begin!!!!! I’m inspired by so many things, however 3 things that inspire me the most are my beautiful family, powerful/influential women both past and present, and todays youth.

2. Dnay B, What were you thinking the FIRST time you danced in front of an audience ? What were your plans in the beginning?

Well I started performing at an early age and I’ve always enjoyed it. Just the
response and love that I would receive from the audience reassured me that I was born to entertain. The plan at the beginning of my career was simple. I wanted to be apart of the show to gain experience and knowledge of performance and show dynamics to one day be able to transition towards producing a show of my own.

3. What was the deciding factor that pushed you to want to be not just a singer/dancer/performer but an artist?

Singing was something I’ve always had a passion for and ultimately knew I wanted to pursue. People had offer to work with me in the past but in my heart and mind I knew the timing wasn’t right. After years of working in the industry as a dancer to todays stars and actually seeing how we both shared a unique level of thrill and fashion for music and performance, I knew my time was near….. While I was touring and living in Europe, I received a phone call from my manager (Torey Nelson), and he told me his vision of me being a STAR in my own right. Aside from my 100% belief in his vision for “Dnay B.”, it was only then at that very instinct I knew the timing was right…. It just felt right…

4. What separates Dnay B. from the rest?

Dnay B. is a COMPLETE PACKAGE!!! She has lived as the average hard working woman, the dancer, and now the artist shown before you. She realizes that it takes all the components of entertaining which she gained as a performer to reach and touch audiences. She not only knows what a crowd should feel from a performance but also how to generate that feeling within them. She understands her artistry and has a personal/real relationship with the music she produces. She’s ready for today, tomorrow, and forever more….

5. What’s your five year plan?

My 5 year plan…. I plan on embedding my influence and mark in Music History and allowing the world to be on this Dnay B. journey. I also intend on building a Performing Arts School for youth. It’s important that they know and feel they too can do this and that all possibilities are endless… Seriously!!!
